LINDA SIPERSTEIN, DVM (DR. SIP) (she/her)
After 21 years in the Boston area, Dr. Sip was happy to return to her beloved Bay Area where she grew up. She attended high school in Marin County, California, and received her bachelor of science from Northwestern University. After a first career as a radio producer at KQED in San Francisco, she moved to the East Coast and soon realized it was time to pursue her dream career.
After receiving her DVM from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine, she went on to complete an internship in small animal medicine and surgery from The Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston.
Dr. Sip knew even before veterinary school that she had a passion for those curious creatures we call “exotic pets.” From parrots to ferrets, bunnies to turtles, hedgehogs to chinchillas and pet chickens, Dr. Sip just can’t get enough of our more unusual pets. Dr. Sip lives in Oakland, California with her husband. Her pets have included a box turtle, parrots, rabbits, rats, hamsters, dogs, and cats.
Starting a house call practice has taught Dr. Sip the importance of spending more time with clients and the importance of getting to know patients in their homes. Most pets are less stressed after being spared the car ride to an unfamiliar place. With in-home vet visits, pets can experience their examinations, tests, and treatments with less anxiety and return to their routines faster. Dr. Sip is able to make animal care and habitat recommendations in the home that have a direct impact on animal health.
Dr. Sip co-hosts a podcast, Totally Pawsome Pod, with author & professional dog trainer Melissa McCue-McGrath, CPDT-KA.
